You must obtain a prescription from the office
for the Visicol prep. Please have it filled at your pharmacy several
days before you are to start your prep, as some pharmacies may have to
order it.
Day before the examination:

Drink only clear liquids for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Clear liquids allowed are: water, clear fruit juices (apple, grape,
cranberry), bouillon, plain Jell-O. No solid foods, milk or milk
products are allowed. No red Jell-O allowed. No corn for 3
days prior to the exam.

Beginning at 7:00 PM, take three (3) Visicol tablets with at least eight
(8) ounces of clear liquid every 15 minutes for seven (7) doses.
The last does will be only two (2) tablets, for a total of 20 tablets.
Do not exceed 20 tablets.

If you are unable to complete the prep before you retire for the evening
or if the return is not clear, please call Dr. Hasan (338-8182) or the
answering service (858-6915) for further instructions.

If you are Diabetic and on insulin, check with the doctor for special dietary
and insulin instructions.

If you take a blood thinner, coumadin or aspirin, DO NOT take it
for 5 days prior to your procedure.
Day of the examination:

No solid foods, milk or dairy products, clear liquids only.

Three (3) hours before your exam, begin your second round of the prep,
repeating the same dosing schedule as the evening before. Take three
(3) Visicol tablets with at least eight (8) ounces of clear liquid every
15 minutes for seven (7) doses. The last dose will be only two (2)
tablets, for a total of 20 tablets. Do not exceed 20 tablets.

Appear for your examination at specified time with a responsible person
to drive you home. You will not be able to drive after the procedure.

Please bring any x-rays with you, if requested.
